We feed a 100% raw, home made diet, ground, based on that of Lisa Pierson DVM. Our 14 cats look so much better since we started this diet. And they really love their food! One 9 year old cat who had an ultra sound and been diagnosed with irritable bowel disease, once he started raw, no longer took Budesonide (a steroid) and his diarrhea and vomiting completely stopped within about a month and has remained so for the past 8 months. His face used to look all scrunched up as if he was in distress and now his face has relaxed and he looks so much happier. I think that a raw food diet is the optimal diet for ALL cats and this includes cats with renal disease. We have one cat with mild renal disease. Please join the Facebook group Feline Chronic Renal Disease and see the references to raw feeding of these cats. The pet food industry is invested in keeping animals on canned and dry food. Why would they give it up and admit that raw is best?
